Today there is no simple way of getting around single-use packaging; however, the materials used to manufacture these items can give huge environmental benefits.
Styrofoam and plastic remain the cheapest and most readily available packaging materials, but there are biodegradable options available that won’t harm the environment and offer similar product alternative benefits.
Bagasse is one of the best eco friendly alternatives. Bagasse is sugar cane waste residual fibers left after the sugar has been extracted. Originally used as a biofuel, the value of this material for the packaging industry has since been well explored. Bagasse is used to make a variety of food packaging items which include but is not limited to takeaway containers, plates and bowls. Bagasse also serves as a substitute for wood to produce pulp, paper and board. Not bad for a ‘waste’ product!
Not only are Bagasse packaging items better for the environment because they are biodegradable and compostable, they are aesthetically pleasing too!
Our recyclable/biodegradable products not only come from renewable materials but are also manufactured in an environmental safe including Fair Trade best practices.
Sugar cane bagasse can be transformed into many biodegradable packaging products. These products include pulp, packaging, tableware and other products.
